"Following the labour court's lifting of the strike interdict against workers, the union has resolved to continue with the action," the CWU said.
The CWU's interim Vodacom national committee debated the lifting of the interdict prohibiting the strike and the report by the forensic audit team that determined the CWU's membership at Vodacom.
The interdict was sought in an attempt by the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to bring the union and the employer together.
"We then resolved to notify the company about our plan of action. The union would also like to thank the CCMA for the interest it showed. However, the CWU is currently resolving the issue directly with the company, as mediation has failed," the union said.
On March 12 Vodacom obtained an interim court order that prohibited workers belonging to the CWU from striking.
After a day of picketing, before the full strike had begun, Vodacom obtained an interdict from the labour court, said union spokesman Mfanafuthi Sithebe.
The industrial action followed an unresolved dispute about the recognition of the CWU by Vodacom.
The company said in April that the union would only be recognised when 30percent of Vodacom employees joined it.
