When kwaito group Boom Shaka crumbled a few years ago, many thought Thembi Seete would go down with it.

A few years down the line, Seete, the only other successful Boom Shaka member after Lebo Mathosa, is still doing well. She has risen above all the odds and in the process proved that she is no pushover.

Seete, who is taking the entertainment scene by storm, has landed a role in the stage play On My Birthday scheduled to run at the Windybrow Theatre in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, from June 14.

She will perform alongside Jerry Mofokeng and Vusi Kunene of Generations fame.

The show premiered at the State Theatre in Pretoria and is now back in Joburg.

In the play, Seete plays the challenging role of a young nurse and wife, Lebo.

"Lebo is a victim of physical and verbal abuse. She has a lot on her plate and is trying to make everybody happy. It's not working for her," says Seete.

Seete also presents a dance show on SABC1 called Jika Majika and also acts in Zone 14.

"Things seem to be happening for me and I'm happy for that," says Seete.

"This is what inspires me and I think God is on my side. At the end of the day, it's not a matter of how good you are, it's how you relate to people."

Seete has done television shows such as Yizo Yizo 2 and 3, Gazlam and Crossing the Line.

She is also a singer and has recorded two albums, Lollipop and S'matsatsa.

Her former group Boom Shaka was famously known for producing hit songs such as Thobela, Be Free and for a song called Hlangani with maskandi singer, Bheki "Hashe Limhlophe" Ngcobo, which sold more than 50000 copies.
