Cut the long and boring speeches at Transkei funerals

In my birthplace, Transkei, this is not the case because services for funerals in the area take hours. Why don't we have shorter funeral services as they do in Mpumalanga?

The way speakers carry on at funerals affects the bereaved families who are tortured by their long speeches.

I have attended funerals in Gauteng and I must say services are also short and sweet in the province.

People from other provinces also told me that by 9 o'clock everything is done.

Well, in Transkei by 9 o'clock the service has not yet started. The event starts at about 11 o'clock and lasts until 3.30pm - that is, if you are lucky.

I do not know whether speakers who make long speeches are egotistic or are trying hard to console the bereaved families.

But because of the long speeches, I think they end up doing the opposite.

I have also noticed that people coming back from funerals in other places come back refreshed and healed.

But Transkeians come back tired from funerals because of the torture that we have to endure from one speaker to the next.

I think sweet and short is best.
