I read Mcelwa Nchabeleng's story about Tommy Kgomo, headlined "Kgomo heads for softball pay day".

It is great for South African softball to be growing at this pace. Sooner or later even the players will be receiving what they mostly deserve - salaries, just like other sportspeople.

I would once again like to appeal to you, in memory of the late Paledi Mothapo, the "Iron Lady of softball" who died in March this year, to organise a tournament in her honour around December.

Mothapo lived and ate softball. She died loving and fighting for softball to be recognised, especially the ladies. More than anything, she did it from her own pocket for others, just for the love of the game and to see it growing.

She also lost her front teeth in the game of softball and still went on to take part even after the injury which left her in bed for many weeks.
