Priorities for now are job creation, housing and security. Changing names does not directly benefit South Africans.

Redressing the past does not mean we should compromise the present.

I also think the suggested new names are only those of prominent ANC members.

I proved this when I was travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg. Most streets are named after Thabo Mbeki and Nelson Mandela. Were there no other people they could name the streets after, especially those from other political parties?

Besides, most people in Limpopo did not know of Thabo Mbeki before he became president.

In restoring our history, name changing is imperative but not a priority. It's amazing how much money is wasted in the process of changing names when millions are living in abject poverty because of high levels of unemployment.

Informal settlements are mushrooming daily, and this has led to sub-standard living conditions.

We should start prioritising housing projects to avoid homelessness which forces people to live in abjectpoverty.
