Differ Mogale, the sacked 2010 World Cup coordinator in Mpumalanga, has turned down an alternative post as a deputy director in the Mbombela municipality.

Mogale, 38, was asked to come back to the Mbombela municipality, not as a 2010 coordinator, but as a deputy director - an offer he has rejected.

In his previous position of coordinator, which is at director level, Mogale would have earned R500000 a year.

He rejected the new post offered, though the municipality promised to pay him the same salary and benefits as that of coordinator.

Nelspruit will host some of the games scheduled during 2010.
