Igesund is one of the prominent coaches reportedly on the wanted list of the expensively assembled but under-performing Wits.
Sowetan has learnt that Wits - who have billionaire former politician Cyril Ramaphosa as a chairman - were making "an incredible offer" to Igesund.
Igesund had signed a one-year contract with Sundowns, which the multiple championship winning coach yesterday confirmed ends at the end of this month.
"I'm not aware about the Wits link," said Igesund after Sundowns touched down at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday from Durban.
"It is true that my contract with Sundowns is coming to an end. I did not want to talk about it earlier because the focus was still on the Absa Cup.
"We are talking with the management of Sundowns."
Sowetan was also informed that Igesund was unhappy that Sundowns wanted to offer him another one-year contract.
The coach reportedly wanted a three-year deal, which is still being assessed by club president Patrice Motsepe.
Meanwhile, Muhsin Ertugral, Ajax Cape Town coach, will meet chairman John Comitis on his return from holiday in Turkey to discuss his future with the club.
Ertugral left for Turkey yesterday, a day after leading Ajax to their first title in six years when they defeated Sundowns 2-0 in the Cup of Dreams final.
The last time Ajax won a tournament was way back in 2000 when they lifted the now defunct Rothmans Cup following a 4-1 win over Orlando Pirates.
"For now, I'm going on holiday to Turkey for a well-deserved rest. I will be meeting the chairman on my return and we'll take it from there," said Ertugral.
Ertugral, who confirmed that two clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia had approached him to coach them, still has two years left on his contract with Ajax.
But Comitis is confident Ertugral will still be at the helm of Ajax's technical staff in the new season.
"He's not going anywhere. The man has done a great job," said Comitis, who brought Ertugral to the Cape Town side at the beginning of the season.
It is a known fact that the coachless Kaizer Chiefs were also keen for Ertugral to return to Naturena in the new season.
But the sometimes temperamental coach is reported to have turned down their offer.
Meanwhile, Chiefs may appoint Frenchman Phillipe Troussier as their coach again. Chiefs' chairman Kaizer Motaung has confirmed that the former Bafana Bafana coach was one of the prominent coaches they were talking to.
Motaung said Chiefs will name a new coach in the next two weeks.
