First, Bulelani Ngcuka was dubbed a spy because he was investigating Zuma, Mac Maharaj, Schabir Shaik and other leaders in the ANC. It was also Zuma who publicly said there was a conspiracy to block him from becoming the next ANC president. He was asked to provide evidence, which he has failed to do.
Then came the hoax emails aimed at creating a wedge between the Xhosa- and Zulu-speaking leaders of the party. Clearly, people are using tribalism to gain support for Zuma.
It is high time that Zuma engaged in a clean campaign if he wants to be elected ANC president. His campaign always falters because he uses dirty methods either to galvanise sympathy or to portray himself as a victim of a conspiracy.
He knows how those who support him will blindly react. Unfortunately for him, the hoax plot was exposed early. What will convince ANC members to trust Zuma as an honest leader?
