Things go awry for Pirates

Nothing much right happened for Orlando Pirates this football season as last weekend saw them lose the MTC Cup 5-4 in a penalty shootout with African Stars.

This was after the two sides went into extra-time and the dreaded spot kicks still level with no goals.

This always eagerly awaited event in Namibia saw the local Buccaneers do what their namesakes in Soweto have been doing all year round - failing to find the net - in an enthralling encounter.

They had their chances but fluffed them just as they did with their fifth and final penalty to settle for second best.

This is but one game among a host of others to be screened on the African Soccer Television show on SABC Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday at 5.30pm.

The other highlights on the package include the visit to Kenya by Fifa where the world soccer governing body pledged to uplift that country's football through the Win in Africa for Africa project.

The launch of the 2007 FNB School Classic Clash tournament featuring 48 schools will also be screened.

Action then shifts to the Linafoot League in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which saw Daring Club Motema Pembe blast TP Mazembe 2-0 while AS Vita Club clipped DC Virunga 2-1.
