The regent of the Balobedu tribe in Limpopo, Prince Mpapatla Modjadji, has been elected a member of the provincial house of traditional leaders.

Modjadji, head of more than a million people, was elected deputy chairman.

Eight other members were also elected during a meeting in Makhado yesterday.

The election makes Modjadji the youngest leader at this level.

Royal family and council spokesman, Clement Modjadji confirmed the election.

"He is a very wise young man with remarkable energy well placed to fulfil his duties," said Clement Modjadji.
