The decision to rename certain streets and places after ANC heroes had sparked tension and threats of violence in the province.

A welcome development is that Mangosuthu Highway, Mangosuthu Technikon and Princess Magogo Stadium will not be renamed.

The decision has shown that grievances can be amicably resolved through consultation.
