The Hip Hoop Tour music interactive roadshow will travel to nine locations throughout South Africa to scout for the most promising basketball players.

At each of the venues, 30 teams of four players will be registered per event in a basketball category.

They will play a three-on-three tournament and the most outstanding individuals will secure a spot in the Sprite Elite Invitational Camp in July just before Basketball without Borders (BWB) clinics and the National Basketball Association (NBA) takes place.

The Sprite Hip Hoop Tour started last Saturday at the Sharpeville basketball courts in the Vaal. The sponsors said the tour's aims are two-fold, focusing on elevating youth culture through basketball and through the lifestyle of hip-hop music driven by poetry, fashion, free- styling and graffiti.

It also seeks to encourage the youth to live a healthier lifestyle through playing basketball and to create awareness of basketball as a sport.

The Sprite Elite Invitational Camp will come alive on July 21 when the best players will be selected from the provincial winners of The Sprite Hip Hoop Tour.

Ten top players selected there will be invited to participate in the BWB developmental programme that will take place from the fifth until the ninth of September in Johannesburg.
