The only time Malawi have ever beaten Bafana Bafana on the eight occasions the two countries have met on a football field was in Blantyre back in July 2001.
That was a proud moment for them when their Flames triumphed 1-0 over a second-string Bafana Bafana in a Cosafa Cup clash.
The two countries meet for the ninth time at the neutral Somhlolo Stadium in Swaziland at 1pm tomorrow and Malawi need not be reminded that they have lost seven times to South Africa.
Tomorrow presents Englishman Stephen Constantine's charges with their best opportunity to conquer Bafana Bafana outside of Malawi's borders. Constantine has selected his strongest available squad for the two-day tournament to prepare for their next Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco.
Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has gone for a young, untested team with the view of spotting potential talent for the 2008 Nations Cup and the 2010 World Cup. Malawi's economy grew by eight percent over the past financial year and the Flames would similarly want a resurgence to complement the boom.
They have the resources to achieve that with talented Free State Stars striker Jimmy Zakazaka in the team. With him are the Black Leopards pair of Robert Ng'ambi and Fisher Kondowe. It is a little tricky to predict Bafana's starting team but Stanton Lewis and Eleazar Rodgers may lead the attack.
