'Government is delusional'

The government is delusional if they think crime isn't high. The criminals in this country are so brazen they even attack senior policemen at headquarters in Pretoria.

The government has reluctantly begun releasing crime statistics quarterly - hopefully this won't be government's version of "quarterly", where stats are released in one go at the end of the year, but be financial quarterly, where stats are released every three months.

Why the reluctance in the first place? Could it be because we, the taxpaying public, will then see the true nature of the beast that devours families every single day?

The criminal system needs a complete overhaul, from the SAPS to the courts to the prisons. We also need to begin to make prison unattractive - hard labour, making people work for matric and university privileges - and we need to prosecute those police and court officials who are luigat.

We can ask people to be on the look out and protect their valuables until we are blue in the face, but why should the public live in fear when not even the cops themselves are safe within their headquarters? We are guaranteed safety in the constitution and that right needs to be provided by the powers that be.
