Households that switched on heaters on Tuesday night caused power utility Eskom to register its highest electricity consumption ever. The new South Africa system power demand record of 35981 MW was supplied, which was 502MW higher than the previous day's record of 35479 MW. Eskom said that compared to last year's record, the new record showed a 1174MW increase.
