Wonder Mhlongo, Mkhuhlu Boxing Club (MBC) chairman, said fight fans should brace themselves for a tit-for-tat slug fest between aspirant professional Mpumalanga and Limpopo boxers on Saturday at Mkhuhlu Community Hall, near Hazyview.

The Olympic boxers (former amateurs) will exchange blows in a boxing tournament organised by the MBC.

"The time has come to revive boxing in the province," said Mhlongo.

"We have invited all boxing clubs affiliated under the Mpumalanga Boxing Organisation (Mpabo) and a few from the University of Limpopo, who have already confirmed their participation.

"We plead with trainers to bring their boxers to the tournament. It might not be a provincial tournament but we will assess the fighters for possible inclusion in the Mpumalanga team to compete in the national championship in Port Elizabeth from July 3 to July 7."

Weigh-in will start at 9am. Entrance to the hall is free.
