Women in business in Limpopo have joined forces to help victims of road carnage in the province.
This follows the high rate of road fatalities in the past few months.
The Limpopo Women in Business (Liwib) has taken upon itself the task of changing the lives of victims and their families by offering them the support they need.
Liwib president Maria Bongwe said they aimed to change the stereotypes of people who thought losing a relative, especially a breadwinner, because of an accident was "the end of the world" for them.
"We have committed ourselves to helping those who have fallen victim to accidents on the roads. We also want to help them in our prayers so that they recover to come and continue with life," said Bongwe.
She said they would start with the victims of an accident between two buses outside Louis Trichardt in which 19 people were killed some weeks ago.
"We have realised that some of the families struggle to stand on their feet once their members die. This will be a kind gesture to show them that we care for them," she said.
Liwib will donate blankets, food parcels and money at a function to be held in Polokwane on June 1.
