Three former South African national coaches are in the running for Moroka Swallows coaching job that became vacant after the departure of Gavin Hunt.
Two of the three mentors vying for the coaching job at the Beautiful Birds are ex-Bafana Bafana coaches Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba and Trott Moloto.
The third one is Kenny Ndlazi, who guided the national Under-23 squad to the historic 3-1 success over Brazil at the Olympic finals in Sydney in 2000 at the time Mashaba was suspended.
Swallows, who missed out on the African Champions League after finishing third on the Castle Premiership log, are looking for a coach to close the void left by Hunt.
Hunt was expected to be named SuperSport United coach late yesterday.
Sipho Xulu, Swallows' general manager, would not be drawn into revealing the names of the coaches who are vying for the coaching job at the Birds' nest.
"We have received CVs of various local and foreign coaches, but unfortunately I can't reveal their names at the moment," said Xulu yesterday.
"We are going through their CVs and will make a decision in two or three weeks' time.
"Gavin Hunt was a great coach and therefore we will need a coach of his calibre.
"If we don't get a suitable coach we will head hunt for one," added Xulu, who also revealed that they were also searching for a publicist.
Ndlazi, whose contract with Mvela Golden League side GaRankuwa United expired on May 15, yesterday expressed his desire to coach in the top flight.
"I'm ready to join any team in the elite league. I like the challenges that go with coaching in the Premiership. If Swallows see me as an ideal coach for a job I will not hesitate to join them," said Ndlazi.
Attempts to contact Mashaba and Moloto drew a blank yesterday.
Ajax Cape Town's coach Muhsin Etrugal is also said to be on the Swallows shopping list, according to a source close to the club. - additional reporting by Meshack Motloung
