A Mpumalanga man accused of raping a woman he found bathing in a river was acquitted of the charges on Friday.

A Mpumalanga man accused of raping a woman he found bathing in a river was acquitted of the charges on Friday.

The Nelspruit magistrates' court acquitted the 32-year-old man from White River of raping a 22-year-old woman in September because of a lack of evidence.

The incident has prompted the police to warn women against bathing in local rivers. - Innocentia Ndlovu
