Moroka Swallows have missed out on the African Champions League after they were held to scoreless draw by SuperSport United in a Castle Premiership match at a windy Germiston Stadium yesterday.

The result saw the Birds finish third on the log on 51 points together with Silver Stars, but the "Tycoons" are above Swallows because of a superior goal difference.

It was the last match for Pitso Mosimane as United coach after he was appointed full-time assistant coach for Bafana Bafana.

Interestingly, Swallows' coach Gavin Hunt is the front runner to take over Mosimane's job at United. United looked the better side in the middle of the park where Teko Modise was dictating terms.

Swallows were the first to threaten to score through Sibusiso Dlamini but he failed to beat United's goalkeeper Denis Onyango in the fourth minute.

Tsweu Mokoro also came close to scoring for the hosts but his effort went wide in the 14th minute.United were also unlucky not to have scored through Katlego Mashego a few seconds later. Swallows continued to put pressure up front but Onyango was equal to the task.
