Motivational speaker John Tibane inspired the congregation of the Care Community Church in Mmbatho, North West, and told them to "prepare for their future and not wait for things to just happen".

He was speaking to about 500 people from Mafikeng, who had travelled to Mmabatho.

Tibane said for God's plan to work, people should have their own plans in their lives, and God will deliver his promises.

His speech lasted only 20 minutes, but it was powerful and had the congregation spellbound.

He quoted from the Book of Joel in the Bible - chapter three, verse 10 - which reads: "Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears and let the weak say I am strong."

He told the congregation that God says they must show him their plans and He will run to them. "We must have plans and goals," he said.

"If you say God, please guide me, firstly know what you want. God is waiting for you to make a plan," Tibane said.

"The Bible says if you delight yourself in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart," Tibane said.

He then closed the Bible and started his motivational speech.

He said: "Let's talk about preparation. Pre means before and pare means to cut. So when you prepare, you are pre-cutting, and cutting is painful."

He said preparation filled one's life with hope and meaning.

People who have big goals never get bored. The congregation shouted "Amen" and then clapped hands.

Everyone was motivated, including Pastor Lourie Maralack of the church and his wife Julia.

Maralack said preparation helped a person focus on the possibilities of the future and not on the problems of the present.

Everyone came out of the church smiling and whispering the word "Jesus". Some repeatedly shouted "Thank You Lord."
