Question is why shows canned?

I am concerned about the SABC's decision to discontinue a moral-building show The Big Question.

I am concerned about the SABC's decision to discontinue a moral-building show The Big Question.

While we as viewers are still trying to come to terms with their move to permanently remove The Big Question from the screen, the public broadcaster went ahead and announced that the music programme Onewill be no more. How can they?

These shows generate revenue for the corporation, but programme managers don't see that.

What's astonishing is that they replace these shows with meaningless US shows while we are busy preaching "Proudly South African".

Our television is polluted with US shows yet the public broadcaster goes on and on securing rights to broadcast more overseas shows.

I know change can be good sometimes and we need a little international flavour, but this must not be done at the expense of us, the viewers.

Oneis the backbone of SABC1's Friday programmes and so was The Big Question on SABC2's Sunday programmes.

Dali Mpofu must do something. He must see to it that The Big Question comes back. He shouldn't mention anything about contracts because anything can be negotiated.
