Athletics South Africa (ASA) has included junior athletes in its squad to compete in the 2007 Southern Region Senior Championships in Namibia to give them valuable experience as they migrate to the senior level.

"Our junior athletes will soon be migrating to the senior level and we saw it fit to include them in this event to afford them enough competition opportunities," said Leonard Chuene, ASA's president.

He was speaking to Sowetan shortly after the national controlling body released the squad that will represent the country in Windhoek on Saturday and Sunday.

"It is very important for our juniors to be part of senior competitions because they will not find it difficult when they graduate to the senior level."
