Listeners to Phala-Phala FM's children's programme will no longer hear the voice of their favourite presenter, Rabelani Mulaudzi, on the airwaves.

Mulaudzi has quit after she was told that she is no longer fit to present the children's show, Denzhe, at the Thohoyandou-based SABC station in Limpopo because she is pregnant.

The 17-year-old resigned on Wednesday and the station has confirmed that she is pregnant

The station said Mulaudzi would no longer present the programme and it confirmed her resignation yesterday.

It is understood that a heated management meeting was held in Polokwane on Wednesday to discuss Mulaudzi's fate.

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago confirmed the resignation and said: "Ms Rabelani Mulaudzi is pregnant. She offered her resignation with immediate effect and the station accepted it."

Mulaudzi, a Grade 11 pupil at Thohoyandou Technical High School, joined the station in 2005 as presenter of the programme, she was meant to embody the voice of children.

Contacted by Sowetan for comment, she refused to speak about her pregnancy or her dismissal.
