What do mathematics and science teachers need to know to be effective and profitable teachers?

This important question will be tackled soon during a symposium and workshop. It will be held at the Marang Centre, Wits University's teachers' training centre for maths, science and technology teachers in Parktown, Johannesburg, on June 1 and 2.

Innovations in teacher education will be discussed during the symposium on June 1. The workshop will be held at the same venue on June 2.

Marang is headed by Mamokgethi Setati, who is a member of the trustees of the Telkom Foundation.

Setati has helped set the judging questionnaire for the Aggrey Klaaste Mathematics, Science and Technology Educator of the Year Awards, which are sponsored by Sowetan and the Telkom Foundation. - Victor Mecoamere
