The stage is set for kwaito star Kabelo, 5FM DJ Koula and SAFM's Thabiso Sikwane to face off against each other in the gruelling Comrades Marathon.

On June 17 the men will run from the city hall in Pietermaritzburg to Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.

Kabelo challenged Koula and Sikwane to run the race for charity.

Kabelo successfully completed his first Comrades last year.

This is Sikwane's and Koula's first time in the Comrades.

Last year Kabelo raised R240000 for charity.

It is said that he shed 20kg since he started running.

The money raised this year by the three men will again benefit charities.

The competition among the three is not only to flex their calf muscles, but more importantly, to see which one of them can raise the most money for charity.

Last year top-selling artist Kabelo completed the 89 kilometres in less than 11 hours, which is the cut-off time.

He helped boost the charitable projects of the Comrades Marathon Association and three other charities of his choice.

The original Kabelo challenge came by way of a conversation at Kabelo's Reebok footwear launch in Johannesburg in 2005.

Famous Comrades winner Nic Bester made the proposition to the star to run Comrades and help people in need.
