Nine people were injured yesterday when a lorry collided with a stationary road- works lorry in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.

Nine people were injured yesterday when a lorry collided with a stationary road- works lorry in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said three of the injured were taken to hospital in a critical condition. One of the critically injured was airlifted by helicopter. Four others were in a serious condition. Two had minor injuries.

All nine were taken to St Anne's Hospital in Pietermaritzburg.

KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesman Colin Govender said the driver of the lorry had been charged with reckless and negligent driving. - Sapa
