Rugby fans show what a great bunch they are

I have always wondered what it would feel like to attend a rugby match. I'd always feared that a black man would be unwelcome, especially at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

I have always wondered what it would feel like to attend a rugby match. I'd always feared that a black man would be unwelcome, especially at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

My word, was I wrong! What a different and fantastic atmosphere.

The kind of reception Sandy Malapile and I received on the evening was marvellous. We received so many greetings coupled with jokes. We were reminded that "Sundowns is playing tomorrow" and we all burst into laughter.

This wonderful mood continued throughout the match. There are several things that impressed me.

Passing through all the passionate Bulls supporters was wonderful. I must say the order was so incredible, even those in the traffic drove so well. We entered through gate 6 because we were going to the South Pavilion.

I was amazed at how clean the stadium was. Huge dustbins were all over and they were maximally used. Inside the stadium an electrifying atmosphere awaited, with the whole stadium painted blue. We sat next to a wonderful Boer couple.

They were just happy to see us in the Bulls shirts and waving flags. We chatted and the feeling was great. By the way, I have been in love with the Blue Bulls for about 12 years now and I will now frequent Loftus.

Sharks be warned, you will face the best defenders in the Super 14 final next weekend.
