Hit because dad tackled apartheid

Much has been said about the inclusion of Stormers' captain, Luke Watson, in the Springboks' training squad for upcoming international matches.

On this I have to agree with the politicians - rugby people are flatly refusing to transform the sport.

What is even more painful is that they not only discriminate against blacks but now are even harassing a white player like Watson simply because his father was against apartheid sport and defied the apartheid government by coaching blacks in the townships in and around Port Elizabeth.

The excuse by Jake White that Watson is not big enough to be successful in international rugby does not hold water.

Well, Kabamba Floors is not big and Australia's Phil Waugh is also not big yet the two have played internationally with success.

I wonder what chances black players have of truly succeeding in rugby.

I don't usually agree with radicals like Bhutana Komphela but on this one I think rugby people need to be told exactly where to get off.

The rugby fraternity have done so much damage to aspiring young black rugby players and it's time this stopped.
