Four people were slightly injured when a helicopter fighting a veld fire made an emergency landing yesterday.

The helicopter was one of two being used by the government-sponsored Working on Fire (WOF) programme in the Table Mountain National Park to douse the wild fire believed to have been caused by a lightning strike.

WOF spokesman Evelyn John Holtzhausen said: "The crew suffered minor burns and one has a broken ankle.
