SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic played to a 2-all draw in a thrilling Castle Premiership match at Loftus yesterday.
The two sides took a while to get into it, and it was Matsatsantsa a Pitori who launched the first attack in the sixth minute.
Richard "Bambino" Rantjie's cross was deflected out for a corner kick by Celtic's defence.
Several minutes later, Celtic's goalkeeper Postnet Omony made brilliant successive saves from Siboniso Gaxa and Katleho Mashego.
In the 31st minute, United grabbed the first goal of the game through Mashego, who struck from close range after some great exchanges with James Chamanga and Daine Klate.
This lead only lasted six minutes as Thabiso Rammile - on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns - crossed the ball for Cyrille Mubiala who headed home the equaliser.
United immediately regrouped and started searching for a second goal, which they got on the stroke of half-time through Chamanga's header.
In the second half, the home side started as fiercely as they finished the first one.
However, it was the visitors who scored next, through Petros Mahlatsi in the 52nd minute.
Mahlatsi, who has a tendency to score crucial goals for Phunya Selesele after coming on as a substitute, combined superbly with Ntokozo Sikhakhane and fired home a thunderous shot to give goalkeeper Dennis Onyango no chance.
Mahlatsi had replaced Johannes Motlhaphing.
Celtic were now firmly in control.
Both sides had more than 30 minutes to find the winner, and Celtic came close on numerous occasions but Mahlatsi and Sikhakhane missed the target.
After beating Celtic's offside trap, George Mofokeng headed over the crossbar with only Omony at his mercy in the 80th minute.
It was United's last game on home soil under Pitso Mosimane as coach.
Mosimane has accepted a full-time job to serve as a Bafana Bafana Bafana assistant coach. Some of the names bandied around to take over from Mosimane include Thomas Madigage, Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter and Milutin "Mitcho" Sredojevic.
