MAPUTO - More than 300000 people living with HIV-Aids need antiretroviral treatment in Mozambique, but only about 44000 of them are receiving the drugs.

MAPUTO - More than 300000 people living with HIV-Aids need antiretroviral treatment in Mozambique, but only about 44000 of them are receiving the drugs.

Cesar Mufanequico, coordinator for the Anti-Retroviral Treatment Access Movement, said the government expected to increase the number of antiretroviral treatment recipients to 90000 by the end of 2006.

Mufanequico was speaking ahead of the global week on access to antiretroviral treatment, to be marked from May 20 to 26. - Sapa
