Honest, hardworking and lovable
Thabiso Jacqueline Leballo was an extrovert.
Her great sense of humour will be missed by her friends, including yours truly.
I met Leballo through her friend, Kgadi Lechesa, a few years ago and I immediately noticed that she loved sport. She never missed a soccer match and would be seen in Thohoyandou and Giyani whenever Black Leopards and Dynamos were playing.
Leballo also enjoyed softball and was a professional basketball player.
Leballo, whom I called "Lanky" because of her height, died in the early hours of Saturday morning at Legae Clinic, in Mabopane, after becoming ill two months ago. She was only 26 years old.
An avid reader, Leballo held diplomas in public relations, marketing management and people centred development from Pretoria Technikon and Unisa.
She was a truly committed and selfless person who approached her work with diligence, honesty and excellence.
She was a personal assistant to the regional general manager of the Independent Development Trust in Polokwane.
She also worked for Eskom, SABC-Phalaphala FM, and Shikisha Tyre and Rubber.
Leballo loved children and would gather little ones around her and sing and dance with them.
She will be buried at Kgabalatsane Cemetery, in Ga-Rankuwa, tomorrow. The funeral service will be held at the St Michael's Anglican Church, Ga-Rankuwa, starting at 6.30am.
