The Transport Ministry appears to have been too hasty in introducing the new electronic national traffic information system.

The Transport Ministry appears to have been too hasty in introducing the new electronic national traffic information system.

Since its introduction last month, the R408million system has caused chaos, anger and frustration.

Motorists and driver's licence applicants have been forced into long queues from as early as 5am at testing stations in most provinces where the structure was not working.

Minister of Transport Jeff Radebe has since apologised for the glitches and has asked the public to exercise patience.

That is appreciated but for how long ?

The minister must understand that people want efficient service - in line with government's commitment to deliver.
