Vigilantism has once again reared its ugly head in the village of Goqwana, in Eastern Cape.

The bodies of three youths were found hanged from a tree yesterday.

They are said to be aged between 17 and 19.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the killings. The names of the victims are withheld until their families have been notified.

Zama Mmangalelwa, a relative of one of the murdered youths, said he was asleep on Monday night when a group of armed people knocked at his window.

"They threatened to kill me if I did not point out where my cousin and his friends were," said Mmangalelwa.

He said he ran away when the men started shooting.

Police said vigilantism and three murder cases were being investigated.

This incident follows the killing of three family members from Gora village. They were accused of bewitching a local councillor.

Twenty-two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murders.

l The family of Mount Frere teacher Fundiswa Sonqishe have welcomed the arrest of her former husband in connection with her murder.

Lulama Mzinyathi, 36, was arrested last week and appeared in the Mount Frere magistrates' court on Monday. He was denied bail.

Mzinyathi will appear in court again on May 14.
