Forensic experts from Pretoria yesterday visited the family at GaMokgolobotho, outside Tzaneen, where four children and a young woman perished in a fire that engulfed their home while they were asleep on Monday.

The experts want to collect evidence that could assist them in determining the exact cause of the fire.

It was earlier reported that one of the survivors had heard a loud bang before the fire broke out.

The woman, who is the mother of three of the victims, managed to escape with third-degree burns and is recovering in hospital.

The five victims were identified only as Suzan, 26, Mary, 16, Julia, 5, Precious, 4, and Kamogelo, one-years-old.
