Eskom got the go-ahead to build Medupi, its first new coal-fired power station in 20 years. The 4500 mega-watt plant is to be built in the Limpopo Province near Lephalale (formerly Ellisras). The first unit is planned to be commissioned by early 2011, with the last unit sche-duled for commissioning by January 2015.
