Senegalese singer Youssou Ndour, pictured, has vowed to use his fame to highlight the plight of people in war-ravaged Sudan.

Senegalese singer Youssou Ndour, pictured, has vowed to use his fame to highlight the plight of people in war-ravaged Sudan.

The star, regarded as among the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine, is planning to mobilise African artists to draw attention to the desperate situation in Darfur. His spokesman, Malick Mbaye, says: "As an artist and opinion leader, Ndour believes he has a role to play for all Africans, especially those in difficulty." - Wenn
