City Pillars have not yet officially guaranteed a berth in the Platinum playoffs of the Mvela Golden League because they have a disciplinary case pending against them.

Mathaithai have been hauled before the Premier Soccer League (PSL) disciplinary committee for allegedly fielding an improperly registered player in their league match against Nathi Lions.

If found guilty, they will have to pave the way for FC AK who failed to qualify for the playoffs after finishing fifth on the log.

Pillars finished fourth on the table and have earned a point more than FC AK.

Andrew "Druza" Dipela, PSL's general manager, confirmed to Sowetan yesterday that Pillars were still to appear before the DC.

Dipela said they hoped the matter, including that of PJ Stars, would be finalised before the end of the week.

The arbitrator will decide on Stars' case after the league found them guilty of fielding four defaulters in their previous matches and thus deducted 15 points.

Winnerspark and Pretoria University, alias AmaTuks, have qualified for the playoffs which will decide the second team to play in the Castle Premiership next season.

This after Free State Stars secured an outright promotion.

They will be joined by a club that finishes 15th on the Castle Premiership log and this could be either AmaZulu or Benoni Premier United.

The outcome of the match between second-placed Winnerspark and Ea lla Koto in Seshego yesterday did not have any bearing on the composition of the log.

The draw for the playoffs will be conducted on May 21 and matches start on June 2 and the final will be played on June 24.

The games will be played on a two-leg format at the venues of the clubs that will qualify for the showpiece.
