Bakgatla chief Nyalala John Molefe Pilane and his co-accused, Koos Motshegwa, were accused of being arrogant when they appeared at the Mogwase regional court in the North West on Friday.

Pilane faces charges of fraud, corruption and theft involving R40million, and Motshegwa faces a charge of theft involving R10000.

When questioned by prosecutor Lizelle van Niekerk, Motshegwa implied Van Niekerk had been attending a different court case, while Pilane refused to bring his personal file of banking transactions to court.

The case was postponed to May 21 and the accused were released on bail of R2000 each.
