The campaign by musicians against counterfeit CDs and DVDs should be encouraged.

The campaign by musicians against counterfeit CDs and DVDs should be encouraged.

Leading the anti-piracy Operation Dudula, world- renowned poet Mzwakhe Mbuli has done a sterling job in alerting the public against pirate music. The illegal selling of this kind of music has negatively affected the musicians financially.

Musicians should not take the law into their hands by raiding suspect factories, tampering with evidence in the process. It is the duty of the police to arrest, charge the suspected pirates and bring them before court.

Artists raiding suspected warehouses and confiscating fake CDs and DVDs will not help stamp out this illegal operation. Instead they will defeat the ends of justice.
