Everyone who went to the Rand Easter Show at Nasrec, Johannesburg, has possibly seen the kwaito group Mpintshi' Esgubhu do their thing on the main stage. They probably impressed quite a number of music fans, particularly those in tune with kwaito music.
They have the energy, experience, attitude and talent to show the music industry a thing or two.
Now, the group - Nhlanhla Dlamini (band leader), Eric Mncwabe, Sboniso Mngadi, Aubrey Mlangeni and Siphamandla Khambule - have released their new album, Knock-Knock, with Mosekedi Records. The label is owned by Yeoville businessman Keneddy Emeka and musician Candy "Nwa'ngwani" Mokoena, of Shaka Bundu Girls fame.
"This is a great opportunity. We never thought we would release our own material. We have worked with a number of big names in the music industry but we never had a chance to record our own music until we met Candy and Emeka, who helped us to put together this album," says Dlamini.
All the band members are from Durban.
