The Local Organising Committee is planning a series of workshops in all the 2010 World Cup cities to deal with business opportunities for local communities.

This will happen after the main 2010 World Cup Business Opportunities Conference at the Emperors' Palace in Kempton Park on June 19 and 20.

"We will be using the conference in Kempton Park to engage the government, business and sponsors on the World Cup," said Tumi Makgabo.

"The Kempton Park conference is not a public event. We avoided inviting the public because that would have meant that people would have to spend money attending. What we have decided to do is that subsequent to the one in Kempton Park, we will be moving to all the host cities for similar conferences.

"At the host cities, we will invite members of the public. The dates and venues of the conferences in the host cities will be made public."

She explained that they were avoiding a situation where people would have to travel long distances to a workshop.
