Moroka Swallows have pledged to intensify their fight to finish second on the Castle Premiership to qualify for the African Champions League.

This was after a 3-2 win over Mvela Golden League-bound Maritzburg United at Germiston Stadium on Saturday.

"We are going to put up a big fight to finish second, we just have to be consistent," said Sipho Xulu, Swallows' general manager.

Maswaswai made their intentions clear early in the game when Rudy Isaacs scored from a Cecil Oerson corner in the 10th minute.

Songwe Chalwe made it 2-0 in the 12th minute from the penalty spot after the Zambian striker was brought down by United's goalie Aime Kitenge.

Japhet Zwane grabbed the third goal in the 24th minute. United pulled one back when Onismor Bhasera scored in the 31st minute. Luntu Mazana got their second goal in the 81st minute but it was too little, too late.

Elsewhere, pressure is mounting on Benoni Premier United after The Rabbits played to a goalless draw with Bidvest Wits at Milpark Stadium on Friday night.
