Organisers of the 15km Mazda Race taking place on Saturday in Watloo, Tshwane, will use this year's race to find out if it can be improved.

Race organiser Daniel Nkoana announced that the hosting club, the Mazda Athletics Club, intends to turn the race into a 32km one from next year.

"The race has been great for short distance running, with its flat and fast course. Local athletes such as Johannes Kekana of Liberty and France Marotola are usually a big part of it and we expect them to support us again this year," Nkoana said.

More than 1500 runners are expected to grace the event. The 12-year-old race will take place at 6.30am at the Ford sports and recreation grounds. Contact Nkoana on 072-171-7390. - Linda Moreotsene
