Eighteen players selected from the Mind Sports South Africa will take part in the 10th World Wargames Championships at the Protea Marine Hotel in Port Elizabeth from Friday to Sunday.

The 18 were selected in Johannesburg two weeks ago after a national trial held in Bloemfontein in December.

David Vannucci, the team manager, said the selection committee had chosen the best players in the country and believes that they can hold their own against the best in the world.

"These youngsters are committed to the sport and have shown dedication and commitment during training," said Vannucci.

A week before the championship South Africa will clash with the other nation's teams in a series of test matches.

"This is the strongest team ever fielded by Mind Sports South Africa for the event."
