SABC painted in a bad light

The SABC is very concerned about how Sowetan covered the corporation's views in the article "DJ Sbu's a Prima Donna" on April 16.

The article claimed Sbusiso 'DJ Sbu' Leope was a prima donna because he did not want to use Studio 1, due to its equipment being outdated, according to a source working with him.

The SABC told your reporter that Studio 1 was being revamped and was not compatible with the studio in Durban.

Our response stated that it was the decision of Ukhozi management to use the new Studio 2 while Studio 1 is being revamped because it is better equipped than Studio 1 to meet the station's purpose.

Not once did the article in question try to explain the reason why the breakfast team was using Studio 2.

This was in spite of us having provided the reason in our response.

Instead, I am quoted as only admitting that Studio 2 is better equipped.

This small statement attributed to me did not give a holistic view of the situation.

The SABC requests that in future its responses are covered truthfully and fully.

Sowetan must give readers an objective view rather than paint the SABC in a bad light, especially after we responded to enquiries put to us.
