Northern Cape police arrested 84 people, including several teenagers, in Kimberley's Galeshewe township at the weekend.

Captain Tony Modise said yesterday that children as young as 13 were among those arrested for carrying knives and pangas in public. Dagga with an estimated value of R15000 was confiscated.

Meanwhile, a woman from Galeshewe will soon find out if she will be prosecuted for child abuse. She allegedly left her two children, a five-year-old and a six-month-old, alone in a shack with a paraffin lamp burning on Friday night. - Sapa
