So it is very wrong for us to honour only freedom fighters affiliated to a particular political party.
We do not want a situation where the ruling party names everything after freedom fighters allied only to it.
There are many heroes and heroines who were not with the ruling party, but who deserve to be honoured.
The liberation struggle of this country was not shaped by one political party.
The renaming process should be done harmoniously and in line with President Mbeki's inaugural address of the April 27 2004 that said: "We pledge to all heroes and heroines who sacrificed for our freedom as well as to you all. that we will never betray the trust you bestowed on us when you helped to give us the possibility to transform South Africa into a democratic, peaceful, non-racial, non-sexist and prosperous country committed to the noble vision of human solidarity."
