Thugs get long sentences
Three men were sentenced to 15 years each for armed robbery and attempted murder in the Port Elizabeth magistrates' court this week.
Police spokesman Captain Ernest Sigobe said Wonke Mzana, 26, Simphiwe Dyobha, 20, and Mandisi Ntombini, 20, are accused of robbing Henry Bower of his car while he was parking it near a tavern in Missionvale last year.
"When Bower tried to get out of the car the three men allegedly pushed him back inside and drove off with him," said Sigobe.
He said the men parked the car in KwaDwesi. They dumped Bower after stabbing him several times all over his body.
They drove off and left him bleeding profusely.
Bower was found by residents, who called the police.
Sigobe said the suspects, who were arrested in New Brighton, were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and cellphones belonging to Bower and his wife.
"They were charged with armed robbery and attempted murder," he said.
All the men are from Rholihlahla village in Missionvale.
